1. Acceptance of Terms
By using SOS Alert you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
2. About SOS Alert
SOS Alert helps you alert trusted contacts by text and call, share your location, and capture photos and a short recording during an emergency, and shares the photos and recording with your contacts by link.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract where you live.
4. Your account
The app needs an account. Keep your sign-in details secure and give accurate information. You are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised use. You can delete your account at any time (see account deletion).
5. Permitted use
Use the app for your own safety and for people who have agreed to be your contacts. Set up your contacts correctly, keep their numbers current, and test the app with them before you rely on it.
6. Prohibited use
- Triggering false alarms, or using the app to harass, threaten or deceive anyone.
- Sharing the links to your photos and audio with people you do not trust, or using the links of someone else’s SOS.
- Adding someone as an emergency contact who has not agreed, or monitoring a person without their knowledge.
- Attempting to break, overload, or gain unauthorised access to the service.
- Copying, reverse engineering or reselling the app, except as the law allows.
7. Emergency features
An SOS starts only after you hold the SOS control for 3 seconds and the 5-second countdown has finished. You can cancel during the countdown, and then nothing is sent. Once the SOS has started, texts already sent cannot be recalled.
SOS Alert is not a replacement for emergency services. It cannot call for rescue on its own and does not contact police, ambulance or fire services automatically. If you are in immediate danger, contact your local emergency number if you can. We do not guarantee that any alert, text, call, photo or recording is sent, received, read or acted on. The app cannot tell whether a text arrived or a call was answered: it reports a text as submitted for sending and a call as started.
8. Limitations
The app relies on your phone, its sensors, GPS, mobile network, battery and operating system, and on third-party services. Any of these may be unavailable, slow or inaccurate. If a position cannot be found, the alert says so. Without a SIM or mobile signal texts and calls cannot be sent, and photos and audio are uploaded only when the phone is online. A call longer than about two minutes means later contacts are not called. Texts and calls may incur carrier charges. Android or the phone maker may stop background work. The app has not been verified on every phone model or Android version. It is built for Android and is not yet available on iPhone.
9. Data, photos and links
Our Privacy Policy explains how data is handled, including that photos and audio from an SOS you confirmed are uploaded to our server.
Your contacts receive links to those files by text. Anyone who has a link can open the file without signing in until the link expires (by default after 7 days) or the file is deleted. You are responsible for choosing contacts you trust and for having their agreement to be your contacts.
10. Intellectual property
The app, its name, design and content belong to the SOS Alert team or its licensors. You receive a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app under these terms.
11. Termination
We may change or stop features, and may suspend or end access if you breach these terms or misuse the service. You may stop using the app and request deletion at any time (see account deletion).
12. Disclaimer of warranties
To the extent the law allows, the app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, including that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or fit for a particular purpose.
13. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss resulting from failed, delayed or undelivered alerts, or from dependence on third-party networks and services. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts there have jurisdiction over any dispute, unless the law of the place where you live gives you the right to bring it elsewhere. Please write to us first: most problems are settled that way.
15. Changes to terms
We will update the date at the top of this page and, for material changes, notify you. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept it.
